The Caspian String Quartet was formed in 1994. After giving it’s debut recital at 10, Downing Street, they then played next door several times for the Treasury Music Society. The Caspians have since performed in festivals and concert series in London and throughout the UK. Venues have included St. Martins-in-the-Fields,St.James’ Piccadilly, St. John’s, Smith Square, the Cheltenham Festival and others across the country. In 1997 the quartet was awarded scholarships to study at West Dean College, and with Emanuel Hurwitz on the Advanced Chamber Course, Dartington. The following year they were recipients of the Bulldog Scholarship at Trinity College of Music. Travel abroad has included a residency in Amman, Jordan for “British Week” and the Karl Klinger Competition in Berlin in 1998.

Anna Bradley – leader studied on the joint course at Manchester University and the Royal Northern College of Music and later at the Royal Academy Music as a postgraduate student of Sophie Langdon. Anna’s career combines solo, chamber and orchestral work with groups like the Britten Sinfonia, the City of London Sinfonia, the Guildhall Strings, the Orchestra of the Swan and the Bingham String Quartet.

Rebecca Boyle, 2nd violin, studied with Diana Cummings until gaining an instrumental award to read music at Cambridge University. She led the University Symphony Orchestra, performed many concertos and played in a University String Quartet. She then studied at the Royal Northern College of Music with Yossi Zivoni graduating with a Diploma in Advanced solo studies. Since then she has pursued a teaching and freelance career.

Maritza Bulcock, viola, studied with Elizabeth Turnbull at Trinity College of Music and continued her studies at the Academy of Music, Prague with Jaroslav Matlik and Milan Skampa. Maritza’s freelance career has been formed around her love for chamber music and she is a member of the Lecosaldi Ensemble, the Apollo Chamber Orchestra and Symphonia Academica. Additionally Maritza is a Colourstrings Music Kindergarten teacher and teaches violin/viola at the Bexley Academy of Music and Performing Arts.

Sally Whale, ‘cello, studied with the late Florence Hooton and with David Strange at the Royal Academy of Music, graduating with Honours and an Advanced Course Diploma. Sally then studied with Adriano Contino in Freiburg, winning a number of awards for solo performance. She has appeared as soloist and in chamber ensembles throughout her career besides freelance orchestral work and teaching.
