Piano duets combine intimacy & scale, as Emma Abbate & Julian Perkins reveal with some of the finest examples, along with less-known gems. Rivals Mozart & Clementi show contrasts in their Sonatas. Schubert’s Fantasie is a pinnacle of his work and of piano writing. The pieces by Dvorak & Debussy show typical colour, while Constant Lambert shows his quirky side. Emma’s mentor Stephen Dodgson’s Tournament combines tunefulness with agility.

The “amazingly talented” Emma Abbate is a professor at Guildhall with a demanding career as chamber musician & accompanist. The “exuberantly stylish” Julian Perkins plays harpsichord, clavichord & piano and conducts. Together they have recorded the Mozart duo sonatas.
