The ‘Home Team’ perform English Choral anthems, opening with four by the great Henry Purcell, including O Sing unto the Lord and Rejoice in the Lord alway. Works by Edward Bairstow and Malcolm Boyle follow the amazing Paul Greally performing the Fantasia and Toccata by Stanford.
After the interval, the choir sing two sections from John Rutter’s lovely Requiem and anthems by John Ireland, followed by a solo marimba work by Mitchell Peters (percussionist of the LA Phil), played by the wonderfully versatile choir member James Rich. The choir round off their concert with A Spotless Rose by Herbert Howells (125th Anniversary) and Parry’s glorious I was glad.
