RAFT is an independent medical research charity based at Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood. Scientists are working on improving treatment for patients with injury or trauma to the skin or limbs.
Smart Matrix Wound Healing Project – Smart Matrix, a skin scaffold, is put into a wound, and aids more proficient healing, encouraging the body to heal itself. It would provide life saving skin cover for major burns, elderly people with leg ulcers and skin cancer patients.
The Bionic Limb Project is looking into a better device for amputees, aiding better movement and rotation as with a real limb.
