Jennifer Langridge was born in Pinner in 1970 and during her school days, at NLCS, she was a member of the 9 o clock choir at Pinner Parish Church. She attended the fabulous Harrow School for Young Musicians and learned the cello with Patricia Jennison. In 1989 she went on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester with the Argentinian cellist Eduardo Vassallo. In her professional life, Jennifer is a member of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra cello section and is principal cello of Psappha. She is also a cello teacher at The University of Manchester and an external examiner at the Royal Northern College of Music. Jennifer and Flora first played duets together when Flora had just learned to play open strings, so they are thrilled to be performing this concerto together eight years on! |
| Flora McNicoll started playing the cello when she was 8 with Gerry Howard. She is now 17 and studies with Alexandra Mackenzie at the Royal Academy of Music Junior Department. Flora enjoys listening to music ranging from Snarky Puppy to Beethoven. She's as happy at a live pop gig as she is at an orchestral concert at the Barbican. Flora also loves her cat, climbing trees, and meeting with her friends. She hopes to learn the electric cello so that she is able to play many different styles of music. It's a real treat to play at the Pinner Festival with her Auntie Jen! |

Alexander Hamilton (b. 1996) is a Music Scholar at Merchant Taylors’ School, Northwood, where he is currently studying for his A-levels in Music, Latin and Classical Greek. After beginning to learn the organ aged 13 with Joan Stubbs, he now studies with renowned organist Ann Elise Smoot. He has participated in numerous masterclasses with distinguished organists including Dame Gillian Weir, Robert Quinney, Margaret Phillips and Daniel Moult. Upcoming recital venues include Chester, Blackburn and Dublin cathedrals, amongst others. He is an Associate of the Royal College of Organists (ARCO) and is currently Organ Scholar of Pinner Parish Church. Recently he has been awarded two prestigious organ scholarships for the coming years. In September 2014, he will take up the position of Organ Scholar at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, a post he will hold during his gap year. He is also Organ Scholar Elect of Trinity College, Cambridge, where (A-level grades dependent) he will study for a degree in Music, and, as Organ Scholar will accompany the world-famous choir, directed by Stephen Layton, in services, concerts, recordings and international tours. Following this, he hopes to pursue a career as an organist and conductor. |
