An increasing number of Harrovians are involved in professional music-making or as serious amateurs. Many go up to the Music Conservatoires or take choral or organ scholarships at various universities. Harrow is represented in national orchestras, cathedral organ lofts, close harmony groups and music management companies.
Chamber music is at the core of the music fabric of the school and has flourished in past years with many ensembles participating in various competitions, workshops, master classes and festivals, including Chamber Studio at Kings Place, performances at St John’s Smith Square and tours abroad. For the past three years Harrow Chamber Groups have won the South East Schools’ Chamber Music Competition. Last year a number of chamber groups enjoyed a successful ten days tour of Hong Kong, Bangkok and Beijing.
